And I imagine a lot of others are as well. Ive been single for awhile and decided I wanted someone in my life, nothing serious just a fun happy person to enjoy the coming summer with. I thought it couldnt possibly be this hard to meet someone new and yet it seems to be almost impossible. It would be great to know someone longer than one date and its incredibly depressing to continue to try. What is even worse is to finally meet a person after getting along so well online only to realize that the person youve been talking to is a tremendous liar either about who they are, what they do, or the picture they send and usually a combination of those three. It just feels like trying to date is just like looking for a job, just getting online to try and meet someone is actually exhausting and feels like a chore because you get so little out of so much effort. I just dont understand how so much can be based off of a two hour meet up, especially since it will probably be awkward.
I think all of us single people are doing this to ourselves because weve been fed a line about a perfect relationship. I dont think youll ever find perfect, maybe 90-95% but never perfect especially since perfect cant exist. I like being with someone that has different interests, if it wasnt for someone with different interests I would have never discovered I have a talent for poetry or that the BBC has some awesome shows. Sometimes you have to sail past the breakers to find the wild and distant shore that holds a hidden beauty. I like to consider myself normal and not perfect, I have a job that I make a good living from and my own apartment. I have a lot of hobbies both indoor and out but still I cant find anyone to be with.
I dont need a relationship to feel complete, but Im starting to miss having someone in my life yet that doesnt seem to matter. Im just bummed and frustrated and torn and it sucks because no matter how hard I try or dont try to meet someone nothing seems to work out. I really dont think this will bring anything about, maybe I just need to vent this inner turmoil, maybe someone will write although in my experience thats highly unlikely. Maybe this will help someone realize that they are not the only feeling frustrated with how modern dating works. For now Ill continue to exist in whatever this is that Im in, thanks for reading.
